STRATEGIC UI/UX PROFESSIONAL
NNG UX Management certified
Thank you for visiting! I am a Senior User Experience professional with extensive experience in UX, UI Design, User Research, Management and Leadership. Currently, I am part of the Guest Technology team at Carnival Cruise Line where I continuously find ways to improve cruiser's experience and parts of the employee's experience in my role as a Senior UX Design Manager. Before this, I worked at Univision Interactive Media as a Senior Art Director for Product where I led the redesign of new responsive sites for migration to a new CMS platform and delivered proposals to enhance existing apps for an improved user experience. The sites redesigned included the main Univision franchise sites, Univision's 72 local TV and Radio stations, as well as the design for the 2014 World Cup site. Prior to that, I have mentored and managed a team of UX designers and guided them in their career path at Univision. I find that in every team and project I have worked, I bring three key ingredients to the table: integrity, creativity and positive energy.
Management & Leadership
I joined Carnival Cruise Line in 2016 as a team of one, when there was no UX team in the Guest Technology department. Since then I've built a team of 11 UX/UI designers. It's a rewarding experience to be able to support this team and guide them with their projects and career path. The UX maturity has increased steadily and I continue to evangelize UX across different teams with the goal of creating a culture of empathy and innovation across the organization - A journey centric approach.
UX Research
My approach to each project is heavily based on research. Identifying user and business needs, analyzing the market, looking up latest trends and standards are some of my first tasks before sketching ideas for user-centered solutions that meet business needs. Constant communication with the team and iterations based on user tests are main areas of focus throughout the process. Cycles of these practices have consistently resulted in effective user experiences that create engagement and keep a consistent brand.
One of the products I've worked on most during my time here at Carnival Cruise Line is the Carnival HUB App. Yu can read a bit about in one of the reviews found online: www.cruzely.com/the-complete-guide-to-carnivals-hub-app/
Some past projects can be found here.

UX/UI Design & Management
Univision Communications was where I first learned about the UX field. In 2005 I was given the opportunity to build a UX team to support our product development team. It was very rewarding to help Graphic Designers transition into UX Designers. During this time, I collaborated in many UX Research efforts to user test our products with customers in our top markets. I fell in love with this field ever since.
The Miami Herald
My professional design background started back in 1996. I was lucky to join the newspaper industry as a new UM graduate of Graphic Design. My first role was to oversee the Friday magazine publication. This was an incredible experience. I learned to work independently and with various stakeholders. But I knew I needed to transition to digital. I contacted two brothers who had a digital agency and asked them to teach me about web design and would help with any design work they needed. This set me up to start my career as a Web Designer.
